101 things to do on the beach....

The beach is the most versatile bit of real estate on the planet, I reckon. Think about it...we eat meals there, play sports, take walks, ride horses, swim, have parties, get married, create sand sculptures; the list is endless. Being by the ocean is brilliant.

I recently visited the town of Cottesloe, not far from Ocean Reef (where we live), where an exhibit of scuptures was on display...where else?...on the beach. Accompanied by my friends, Suzie Taylor and Jenny Bay, we shared a spectacular afternoon of art and friendship. Throw in some fish and chips and you've got a special memory (and a full belly).

Enjoy this sampling...

Sexy Sam

Finally some pics of the uniform they have to wear at Lake Joondalup Baptist College, where Sam and Luc attend school. I couldn't catch Luc in uniform for this photo shoot, so here is Sam. By the way, this is considered the "summer" uniform. After the next term, the "winter" uniform is required which includes gray pants, a blue blazer, and a tie. Stay tuned for that one!

Heeeeer's Sammy!

The top 10 most enjoyable things about Australia(ns)

OK. Fair is fair. I promised to follow up "The top 10 most annoying things about Australia(ns)" with the 10 things we love. Of course, this is the personal opinion/likes and dislikes of the writer, but here goes...

10. Round abouts! They are everywhere here. They work and people know how to drive through them.
9. Being able to actually use the terms "g'day", "cheers", "mate"(friend), and "good on ya" without sounding like a idiot.
8.When you are having a few drinks they call it being "on the piss". (I want a license plate in the states that says that)
7.Morning tea. Every day people stop what they are doing around 10:30 and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, always accompanied by cake or biscuits. A grand tradition!
6.Experiencing so many different types of great food.
5.Kangaroos!
4.The abundant bike paths...just about everywhere.
3.The amazing collection of people from all over the world here.
2.The weather in Perth. It is just superb;

And the number one thing about living here that is a source of constant joy to me...
1.The incredible, beautiful Indian Ocean.
