Meet Bob....(tail)

Found this little guy on our porch as I was going out the front door the other day. Imagine my surprise! Actually, I had seen his kind before; they are all over the place here, especially on walking paths in the parks and by the coastline. They are called Bob Tails and they look much more fierce than they really are. The can't move very fast and if they feel especially threatened they will hiss at you, but that's about it. I got this guy to hiss at me several times, but never when the shutter on the camera clicked so I don't have a picture of it.
They can give you a bit of a scare the first time you encounter one, but they are harmless and many people like to have one or two in their gardens to eat the bugs. I imagine he is still around our house somewhere, but I haven't seen him again yet.
See you next time, Bob!

Hey, so good to hear from you all! I loved your blog and look forward to updates! I don't know if I could ever get use to the differences (Especially the change of seasons being opposite!) The pictures you sent are beautiful, very beautiful & scenic. Halloween was fun, Janelle went as Little Red Riding hood and Garrett was a Whoopie Cushion (I sewed both costumes)and they went alone with a friends (Erin Riley and Parker Spears). They went to Summerfield and had a blast. I must say I do miss tagging along. I'm keeping very busy with school volunteer stuff and helping with student council as the mom helper (Janelle is secretary of student council) I'm also the helper in the classroom to organize the parties. I'm so glad that Camerin is emailing Janelle, its good to hear from her, as we keep remembering all the fun time when she would visit us. Say hello to everyone, I will get you a Christmas card/picture and family news letter. Keep the blog comming! Pat
